The lawyers at Lightfoot have always been an experienced group. They have included the former Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama; a former Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court (who served on the Court for 20 years); five Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers (including the College’s president from 2002–2003, who continues to serve as a non-voting member of the college’s Board of Regents); two former state bar commissioners; a former president of the Alabama State Bar; the former chairman of the Board of Editors for the Manual for Complex Litigation, Second; a former member of the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation; one of the Alabama members of the Product Liability Advisory Council; a former president of the Birmingham Bar Association; three members of the American Board of Trial Advocates (one of whom is a former president of its Alabama Chapter); a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers; a former Chair of the NCAA Committee on Infractions, and the author of a book on toxic torts litigation.
