During her more than 20 years in practice, Sara’s focus has been commercial litigation. She regularly defends claims brought against banks, insurance companies, mortgage lenders and other financial services providers. Sara also regularly defends product manufacturers in dealer/manufacturer litigation. In recent years, she has handled a number of significant shareholder disputes, both for shareholders challenging corporate or majority shareholder conduct and for companies and shareholders defending such challenges. She has tried more than ten cases to verdict and has defended at least 20 arbitration proceedings to conclusion.
In addition to her handling of disputes between individual litigants, Sara regularly handles class action litigation, principally for defendants. She has defended more than 50 putative class actions, ranging in subject matter from federal claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, RICO and the federal securities laws to state law claims involving claimed vehicle defects and financial and insurance products. She is one of relatively few lawyers who has tried a class action.
Sara is active in the Dupont Women’s Legal Network, chairing its Business Development Committee. Away from work, she enjoys traveling with her husband and teenage boys.
