Melody joined Lightfoot, Franklin & White in 1994. Melody’s practice primarily focuses in the areas of product liability and personal injury cases, and she also represents various clients in the area of pharmaceutical and medical device litigation. As regional counsel for a number of product manufacturing clients, Melody has had the opportunity to try numerous cases to defense verdicts in federal and state courts throughout the Southeast. Melody also represents numerous insurance companies in fraud, bad faith and commercial litigation in Alabama.

Melody obtained her undergraduate degree from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, where she graduated summa cum laude and was elected to the Alpha Chi honorary society.  She then attended Law School at Vanderbilt University, where she served as the Managing Editor of the Law Review and was selected to the Order of the Coif. She began her practice here at Lightfoot Franklin upon graduation from Vanderbilt.

Melody is a member of the Birmingham and American Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute, and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association.  She has been active participant with various activities with the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, and she currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association. Before her selection as an Officer and Board Member, Melody served as Chairperson for the Alabama Defense Lawyers' Trial Academy from 1999-2001, has served as a faculty member for the Trial Academy on numerous occasions, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Young Lawyers Section of the Association.  She is recognized in the 2011 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for her Product Liability Litigation practice.

In addition to her trial and Bar-associated work, Melody currently serves on the Board of Directors for Magic Moments, a non-profit organization that grants non-medical wishes to chronically ill children in the State of Alabama. She is married to a trial lawyer, is a proud mother, and is a classically-trained musician.
