Compensation & Benefits
Compensation for first-year associates is among the highest in Alabama and, when compared to the cost of living, among the highest in the country.
Effective Fall 2015, new associates receive a total first-year compensation package of $115,000 ($110,000 in salary plus a $5,000 cash bonus) when they begin work. Many of our new lawyers clerk for federal judges before joining the firm, and we award an additional $10,000 clerkship bonus when they begin work.
In addition to our outstanding compensation package, associates receive health, disability and life insurance and the opportunity to participate in the firm’s 401(k) retirement plan. As part of its commitment to the development of our attorneys’ legal skills, the firm also reimburses attorneys for expenses incurred in connection with continuing legal education and bar activities. The firm also subsidizes individual attorneys’ investments in technology.
