KBM v. Avocent, Inc.
After Avocent ceased submitting purchase orders to KBM for the manufacture of various component parts, KBM sued Avocent for $10 million under a variety of theories. Lightfoot’s trial team, which consisted of Sam Franklin, Melody Eagen, Chips Pruet, and Wes Gilchrist, secured a summary judgment entirely in Avocent’s favor. The trial team became the appellate team and was joined by Nikaa Jordan when KBM appealed to the Alabama Supreme Court. Following extensive briefing, the Alabama Supreme Court affirmed the trial court’s ruling in October of 2012.
