Lightfoot, Franklin & White’s Clint Speegle Discusses Campus Drone Policies in Interview with College Planning & Management

Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC associate Clinton T. Speegle was recently interviewed by College Planning & Management about how drones can improve safety and security on college campuses. In the article, “An Eye in the Sky,” Speegle shares issues facing the use of drones on campus.

The rapid development of the technology has “likely left many universities feeling like they are playing catch-up when it comes to monitoring and regulating the use of drones on campus,” said Speegle. “Colleges and universities need to plan ahead, and create no-fly areas around dorms, and just think of different situations that could come up before they actually occur.”

Speegle is a member of the firm’s Aviation & Aerospace and NCAA Compliance & Investigations practice teams. He’s a former U.S. Army attack helicopter pilot and wrote the Standard Operating Procedures for unarmed aerial vehicles (UAVs) used by the 4th Infantry Division. He recently authored an article for University Business about drafting policies for campus drones.
