Lightfoot Obtains Defense Verdict for Leroy-Somer
Lightfoot attorneys Adam Peck and JT Thompson obtained a defense verdict for Leroy-Somer in a premises liability case arising out of an accident that had occurred at its facility in Lexington, Tennessee on September 8, 2008. Flatt, who at the time of the accident had been working as an independent industrial contractor for Leroy-Somer, claimed that a heavy metal door with a pneumatic door closer malfunctioned and smashed his fingers. He sought $500,000 in damages. On January 25, 2012, after 3 days of trial in the Western District of Tennessee, the jury explicitly found in their verdict form that the accident was not the fault of Leroy-Somer and was the fault of the plaintiff Flatt.
