Lightfoot Partner Jack Sharman Gives Corporate Investigations Presentation at Kroll Event in New York City

August 6, 2017

On August 3, Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Jack Sharman spoke on corporate investigations at an event hosted by Kroll, the New York-based corporate investigations and risk consulting firm. Sharman spoke alongside Bill Nugent, a former federal prosecutor and Kroll’s Regional Managing Director for North America in Kroll’s Investigations and Disputes practice, and Erin Porter, a Kroll Associate Managing Director in the same group.

In his presentation titled “Sex, Lies, and Audiotape: Lessons for Corporate Investigations,” Sharman shared his experience as Special Counsel to the Alabama House Judiciary Committee for the impeachment investigation of Governor Robert Bentley. The presentation focused on lessons for corporate investigations and governance as well as considerations for a company’s board, senior executive leadership, internal legal officers and outside counsel.

Sharman has practiced law for nearly three decades and currently leads Lighftoot’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Corporate Investigations practice group. His practice focuses on internal corporate investigations, business crime, grand jury investigations, government-contract fraud, public corruption, criminal and civil defense of healthcare providers, and criminal matters involving the Anti-Kickback Statute and the False Claims Act. In addition to his work on the Bentley impeachment investigation, Sharman served as Special Counsel to the House Financial Services Committee in the 1990s for the Whitewater investigation of former President Bill Clinton. He regularly comments on white collar law issues on his White Collar Wire blog and on Twitter.
