Ivan Cooper Presents at Eleventh Circuit Appellate Practice Institute and Elected to Chair 2010 Program

Lightfoot attorney Ivan B. Cooper presented at the second Eleventh Circuit Appellate Practice Institute (“ECAPI”), held in Atlanta, Georgia on October 23-24, 2008. Mr. Cooper participated in a panel discussion on the topic of “Preservation of Error” along with Eleventh Circuit Judge Frank Hull and Assistant U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance. The event was co-sponsored by the Appellate sections of the Alabama, Georgia, and Florida state bars (the states which comprise the Eleventh Circuit). Justice Clarence Thomas of the United States Supreme Court was the keynote speaker for the Institute. The ECAPI also featured participation by eleven judges of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and appellate practitioners from throughout the nation. Mr. Cooper, who also served on the planning committee for the inaugural ECAPI, served as Vice-Chair of the 2008 ECAPI and has been named Chair of the 2010 program.
