Lane Morrison’s background in engineering makes him uniquely qualified to solve clients’ complex commercial and product liability disputes.  When the case involves high stakes claims arising out of highly technical disputes, Lane’s experience allows him to understand, and help solve, whatever technical issues may arise.  This, along with his dedication to his clients, makes Lane an invaluable asset to clients when they are faced with complex commercial claims.

Lane’s roots in the Southeast are deep.  Originally from Calera, Alabama, Lane graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama in 2011 with a B.S. in civil engineering.  During undergrad, Lane was recognized by the state chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) as the State’s Civil Engineering Student of the Year for 2010.  He also served as president of the student chapter of the ASCE and was twice recognized as the most outstanding student in his class.  Lane then went on to receive a M.S. in civil engineering from UA in 2012, where he focused on environmental engineering and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Lane graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Law in May 2015.  During law school, Lane received the top grade in classes of varying subject matter: from Federal Jurisdiction and Alabama Civil Practice and Procedure to Consumer Protection, Criminal Procedure, and the First Amendment.  Outside of class, Lane served on the Alabama Law Review and was selected for publication in Volume 66.  Lane was also a member of John A. Campbell Moot Court Board and the Labor & Employment Moot Court Team, which placed second at the Robert F. Wagner National Labor and Employment Moot Court Competition in New York.

Before joining Lightfoot, Lane put his training and experience to work defending architects and engineers in design and construction defect claims across the Southeast.

Lane is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the Birmingham Bar Association, DRI, and the Alabama Defense Lawyer’s Association. He also serves on the Junior Board of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama.  He is the proud uncle of two nieces.
