Lightfoot Partners with Magic Moments to Grant Wish for Birmingham Teen with Sickle Cell Disease

Firm raised $4,500 to send 14-year-old girl to New York City

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (September 5, 2018) — A Birmingham teenager is fulfilling her dream of visiting a cooking show in New York thanks to Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC and Magic Moments. The firm partnered with the local wish-granting organization to raise money for 14-year-old Lauren, who was diagnosed with sickle cell disease at birth.

Although she is unable to attend school, Lauren works on her academics from home and has found a new passion to pass the time: cooking! She loves watching cooking shows and her Magic Moment request was to attend a cooking show filming and meet the cast.

This summer, Lightfoot employees raised about $4,500 in a fundraising campaign to make Lauren’s dream a reality.

“It was such a joy to come together as a firm and grant this wish for Lauren,” said Lightfoot partner and Magic Moments board member Adam K. Peck. “Investing in our community and helping create these ‘magic moments’ is what it’s all about. That’s what it means to be a part of the Birmingham family.”

This isn’t the first time the law firm has joined forces with Magic Moments. Last year, Lightfoot helped send a 4-year-old boy undergoing treatment for a brain tumor to Disney World.
