Brian Kappel to Speak on House Settlement for NAAC Convention Panel
June 4, 2025
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Brian P. Kappel will serve as a panelist during the 2025 National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) Convention from June 8 - 11 at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Florida.
The panel, “House Settlement Topic: Mitigating Reality,” will feature practitioner perspectives of the proposed changes to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules that would take effect if the House of Representatives settlement is ultimately approved by the court. These changes would eliminate more than 150 rules to allow schools to provide additional benefits to student-athletes under the settlement, including expanded use of a student-athlete's name, image and likeness. Schools have until June 15 to decide whether to opt to provide benefits that would be permissible under the settlement for the coming academic year.
Speakers include Kappel and Jason Greco, a senior associate athletic director of the University of Utah. Diana Ulrey, an associate athletic director at Oregon State University, will serve as the moderator. Lightfoot is proud to sponsor the panel.
If you're attending the conference, be sure to catch Kappel’s session at 1:30 p.m. ET on June 10.
