Lightfoot Attorney Liz Huntley Inspires Word Lab and Reading Workshop
May 15, 2015
The Liz Huntley Word Lab and Reading Workshop opened last month at the Literacy Council of Central Alabama, located in Birmingham, Alabama. Funded by Literacy Council patrons Kathryn and Raymond Harbert, the lab was inspired by Lightfoot attorney Liz Huntley’s personal story of how learning to read saved her life. The lab dedicated in Liz’s honor is a place where Literacy Council learners and tutors gather to do their work. In essence, the lab will serve as their school, a safe place for them to gather and learn and change their lives for the better. Liz recently shared her story of personal triumph in the February 2015 TedxBirmingham event on overcoming the impossible and moving mountains, which can be viewed here.
