Lightfoot CTO Corey Thomas Featured in Articles on AI and Legal Tech
February 2, 2026
Lightfoot, Franklin & White Chief Technology Officer Corey Thomas was recently quoted in two publications covering how law firms use AI and other emerging legal technology.
In a Law.com Legal Tech News article previewing cybersecurity trends for 2026, Thomas offered his predictions for this year.
“By 2026, AI-generated phishing scams will evolve beyond emails, Thomas said. “Attackers will use deepfake video and voice cloning to impersonate individuals during live calls, tricking unsuspecting teams into authorizing sensitive actions. Firms will need multi-factor identity verification and AI-driven anomaly detection to counter this next wave of social engineering. This will require law firms to become even more sophisticated and watchful when it comes to securing data and mitigating against human lapses. Benchmarking certifications such as SOC-2 will become more common in the legal industry.”
A Pacific Business News article highlighted Lightfoot’s approach to testing and integrating innovations such as AI into the firm’s daily workflow, a process that involves input and knowledge sharing from the entire firm. Thomas explained how he ensures all voices are heard when making critical technology investment decisions.
“A lot of firms are really just driven by their CEO or CIO,” Thomas said. “But I want the attorneys’ opinions. I want to know [opinions from] the senior partner who may not be the most tech savvy, to a partner that’s really tech savvy, to a mid-level attorney, to a first-year associate, to a staff member.”
As Chief Technology Officer, Thomas drives Lightfoot’s pursuit of legal technology excellence. In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, he ensures the firm remains at the forefront of innovation—advising on technology systems, upgrades, and security—so that Lightfoot continues to deliver exceptional results and value for our clients.
