Lightfoot Proudly Sponsors Jere F. White, Jr. Trial Advocacy Institute

August 18, 2014

Lightfoot is a proud sponsor of the Jere F. White, Jr. Trial Advocacy Institute. Held in honor of Jere F. White, Jr., the Trial Advocacy Institute serves as the primary fundraising event for the Jere F. White, Jr. Fellows Program at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law.
Prior to his death on October 3, 2011, Jere and his wife, Lyda, established the Jere F. White, Jr. Fellows Program. The program seeks to recruit not only outstanding students with strong academic credentials, but also a history of leadership and commitment to service, thereby promoting the development of lawyers who share the ideals that were so important to Jere.

The Oct. 3, 2014, Jere F. White, Jr. Trial Advocacy Institute is presented by The Alabama Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers and Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law. It promises to be a unique continuing legal education program offering an outstanding range of presenters and moderators. ESPN broadcaster, attorney and best-selling author Jay Bilas is the keynote speaker. Institute details and registration are available here.

Jere will long be recognized as one of the most outstanding lawyers in the country. More importantly, he will be remembered as a great person, friend and mentor. A graduate of the University of Georgia and Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, Jere was a founding member of our firm. Jere held himself and others to the highest standard of the practice of law. A third-generation lawyer, he was truly a lawyer’s lawyer. He cherished his relationships with the Bench and lawyers on both sides of the Bar. Jere balanced his success as a lawyer with an even stronger devotion to his faith, family, friends and community.

Gifts can be made to the Jere F. White Jr. Fellows Program online here or by check made out to “Cumberland School of Law” with “White Fellows” in the memo line sent to: Attention David Hutchens, Cumberland School of Law, Samford University ROBH 209, 800 Lakeshore Dr., Birmingham, AL 35229.
