Charles Stam loves helping people solve problems.

As someone who grew up in New York City and clerked in the Mississippi Delta, Charles engages with and relates to people from all backgrounds, both in and out of the courtroom. Charles excels in research and writing, and he thrives as an oral advocate. Drawing from years of high-level competitive debate, he began representing clients in the courtroom and taking depositions within just a few months of his practice.

Charles maintains a general litigation practice focusing on commercial litigation, corporate recoveries, product liability and catastrophic injury. He joined Lightfoot after completing a one-year clerkship with Judge Debra M. Brown of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. He also served as a judicial intern to Judge Xavier Rodriguez of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas; a law clerk at the Office of the Texas Solicitor General; and a research assistant to attorney and former Texas state senator Kent Caperton.

Prior to graduating cum laude from the University of Texas School of Law, where he served on the editorial board of The Review of Litigation, Charles was a public finance and policy analyst on Wall Street. He studied history and political science at Columbia University and was awarded an endowed fellowship at the Center for the Study of the Presidency & Congress in Washington D.C.

Charles is known for oversubscribing to podcasts and enjoying deep-sea fishing. He’s a dual US-EU citizen who speaks French and has traveled throughout Europe — and he is always on  the lookout for the next cultural event to attend.
