Lane Morrison combines litigation skill with engineering experience.

Lane's background in engineering gives him a unique edge in resolving complex commercial and product liability disputes. Clients appreciate his ability to understand and resolve bet-the-company claims involving highly technical issues. This, plus his unrelenting dedication, makes Lane a valuable asset to clients seeking counsel with these intricate matters.

Before joining Lightfoot, Lane defended architects and engineers in design and construction defect claims across the Southeast. In defending those suits, Lane used his unique background to address a wide range of technical claims, including allegations of design and construction defects on large scale residential, commercial and healthcare projects.

In addition to his practice, Lane dedicates significant time to pro bono work and involvement in the legal profession. He offers legal counsel through the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program, including its Civil and Veterans Help Desks. He has litigated several pro bono matters in district court, representing multiple low-income tenants in wrongful eviction matters. Lane is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the Birmingham Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA).

Lane received graduate and undergraduate degrees in civil engineering from the University of Alabama before attending law school there. In undergrad, he was recognized as the Alabama Civil Engineering Student of the Year by the state chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). His graduate work focused on environmental engineering and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In law school, Lane served on the Alabama Law Review and was a member of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board and the Labor & Employment Moot Court Team. He is the proud uncle of two nieces.
