Amber Thompson to Speak at 2025 DRI Young Lawyers Seminar in New Orleans

May 22, 2025

Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC associate Amber N. Thompson will serve as a featured speaker for the 2025 DRI Young Lawyers Seminar, June 11-13 at the Sheraton in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Amber’s presentation will address the impact of the digital era on the practice of law, particularly how increased screen time is hampering the development of face-to-face communication skills in younger lawyers. The practice of law has long depended on mentorship and shared in-person experiences, but the legal profession has seen shifts as both work and social interactions have moved online. Amber’s session will explore ways to reduce digital distractions and build “bridging” social capital so that young lawyers can become more effective conversationalists.

The DRI Young Lawyers Seminar features content aimed at helping associates and newer partners hone their trial skills, stay ahead of legal trends and expand their professional networks. The 2025 agenda includes interactive panels and workshops, along with unique networking opportunities tailored to the next generation of legal professionals. Attendees will learn how to gain essential soft skills and confidence in professional interactions, from effective communication to managing difficult opposing counsel.

Amber is a civil defense litigator who defends leading companies nationwide against product liability, environmental and toxic tort litigation. Having served as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 freight carrier, she has substantive, real-world knowledge that informs her advocacy on behalf of clients.

If you're attending the conference, be sure to catch Amber’s session at 3:30 p.m. CT on June 12.
