Henry Gimenez and Jack Sharman Serve as Panelists for LEAD1 Seminar on College Admissions and Athletics Compliance in Wake of Operation Varsity Blues

April 18, 2019

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partners Henry Gimenez and Jack Sharman spoke during a LEAD1 Association presentation to collegiate athletic directors today. LEAD1 organized the conference call seminar, titled “10 Questions Every Board Should Ask of Its Athletics Department,” to provide leadership around responding to the recent “Operation Varsity Blues” scandal. Gimenez and Sharman discussed college admissions and athletics compliance issues.

Sharman and Gimenez are members of Lightfoot’s NCAA Compliance & Investigations practice group. That group represents institutions, athletic administrators and prominent coaches in NCAA compliance interviews and investigations, as well as in hearings before the NCAA Committee on Infractions and the Infractions Appeals Committee. The team also has experience conducting internal investigations of campus issues involving Title IX, sexual misconduct and other student welfare matters.

Since news broke regarding Operation Varsity Blues, several members of the group have authored articles providing advice to college and university administrators and athletics department directors on how to prevent similar issues on their campuses.
