Henry Gimenez Quoted in Courier Journal about Federal Investigation into University of Louisville Basketball Recruiting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (October 2, 2018) — Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Henry Gimenez was quoted extensively in a recent article in the Courier Journal about the recruiting scandal involving the University of Louisville’s basketball team and the FBI investigation that followed.
The federal investigation is still ongoing, one year after the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York unsealed indictments following a months-long investigation of alleged bribery and fraud. Lightfoot was not involved in the University of Louisville matter and Gimenez spoke to the newspaper as a third-party source.
“The NCAA will have representatives at all the trials to monitor information coming out," Gimenez said in the article. "They are not going to want to reach any resolution with any of these schools unless they are confident university conduct has been uncovered completely. ... Unfortunately for schools that are named and having to operate under this cloud, they will have to continue to do so for a while."
Gimenez co-leads Lightfoot’s NCAA Compliance and Investigations practice group, which regularly handles matters before the NCAA Committee on Infractions and the Infractions Appeals Committee — including several that have received national media attention. In his NCAA practice, Gimenez handles issues relating to recruiting, academic fraud, and campus visits. He also helps colleges and universities with internal investigations relating to Title IX and student welfare issues, athletics-related employee disputes, coaching contracts and more.
