Kaitlyn Faucett Presents at ‘Evening of Ethics’ Event for Dallas Bar Association
October 28, 2025
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Kaitlyn M. Faucett presented at the Dallas Bar Association’s Evening of Ethics event on Oct. 14, delivering a compelling address titled “Can’t We All Just Get Along? Civility & Ethics as a Modern Lawyer.”
During her 30-minute presentation, Faucett shared insightful personal experiences from the past year, reflecting on moments when civility among attorneys was challenged, particularly in the context of evolving Texas Bar standards.
Faucett questioned whether a lack of face-to-face communication in modern legal practice has contributed to a more adversarial environment, where there may be fewer consequences for poor conduct.
“Maybe it’s because our practice has become too distant, we can cast our stones now from behind a key board, without fear of running into the opposing lawyer we were just a jerk to, at the local diner later that night, when we would have to look them in the eyes, with their family nearby, knowing the reprehensible things we did and said before. In other words, we’ve lost ownership and accountability for our actions,” Faucett said.
To spark change, Faucett encouraged attendees to take ownership of their actions and to advocate for the ethical oath that defines the profession. She emphasized the importance of modeling professionalism, especially as today’s jurors are often from a younger generation with a heightened sense of personal autonomy and awareness of poor behavior. Such awareness can impact client outcomes, making civility not just a professional obligation but a strategic advantage.
Recognizing the unique challenges faced by women in the legal field, Faucett highlighted the critical need for law firms to prioritize mentoring to prepare them for the realities of modern legal practice. She noted Lightfoot has introduced workshops for young lawyers as part of its formal mentorship process to expose them to what they may encounter and equip them with tools to defuse a challenging situation.
Faucett represents clients in high-stakes product liability and commercial disputes, with a strong focus on defending leading manufacturers. Her practice includes breach of contract and fiduciary duty matters, shareholder and partnership disputes and complex product liability claims. Faucett also litigates on behalf of healthcare companies and supports the firm’s white-collar defense teams.
