Lightfoot Grants ‘Magic Moment’ for Alabama Child with Life-threatening Disorder

August 5, 2019

An 8-year-old from Tuscaloosa with a life-threatening disorder is receiving her wish to see Kyrie Irving play basketball thanks to Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC and Magic Moments.

The firm partnered with the local wish-granting organization to raise money for a young girl named Amelia who was diagnosed with Salt Wasting Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, which has required her to depend on multiple medications daily since she was only two weeks old.

Lightfoot employees raised $4,800 in a fundraising campaign this summer that included a firm-wide silent auction. The firm surprised the girl last week with the news that she will be getting her “magic moment” wish of seeing her favorite basketball player, Kyrie Irving, play basketball. She will travel to New York to see Irving play with the Brooklyn Nets.

“We’re delighted to continue this tradition of coming together as a firm to make a dream come true for a special child,” said Lightfoot partner Adam Peck, who serves on the board of directors for Magic Moments. “Seeing the joy this brought Amelia and her family was priceless, and we were proud to be a part of it.”

The firm has partnered with Magic Moments twice before, granting a wish for a teenager with sickle cell disease last year and sending a boy with cancer to Disney World in 2017.
