BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 8, 2018) — Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC managing partner Melody Eagan is the focus of the “Member Spotlight” feature in the spring newsletter of the Women’s Section of the Alabama State Bar.

The Q&A profile of Eagan, who became Lightfoot’s first female managing partner in January, discusses her 20-year litigation career, the new leadership role she has taken on at the firm, and what Alabama law firms can do to promote diversity in the legal profession.

“I am proud to say that Lightfoot has always emphasized and recognized the importance and value of women lawyers,” said Eagan in the article. “I have been blessed to work with amazing lawyers who cared about me as a person, as well as my professional development. They gave me great opportunities, allowed me to take ownership of cases as an associate, and took the time to provide constructive input on ways to improve.”

In addition to her role as Lightfoot’s managing partner, Eagan focuses her practice on product liability and personal injury cases. She serves as regional counsel for a number of clients and has successfully tried numerous cases to verdict throughout the Southeast. Eagan served as president of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association and is a member of the Defense Research Institute, where she has served as a State Liaison for the DRI Women in the Law Committee.
