Lightfoot Sponsors 32nd Annual YMCA ‘Race to the Courthouse’

November 14, 2019

Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC is a sponsor of the annual Noojin & White Race to the Courthouse 5K and 1-mile Fun Run. Proceeds from the race go directly to the 2019 YMCA of Greater Birmingham Annual Campaign.

Now in its 32nd year, the 2019 race will take place on Saturday, December 7. The 5K will begin at 9 a.m. at Railroad Park (1700 1st Ave. South). The 1-mile Fun Run will start immediately after the 5K finishes.

The race honors Lightfoot founding partner Jere White, as well as Ronnie Noojin, a founding member of the Noojin, Haley & Ashford law firm. Both were prominent attorneys in the Birmingham law community and tremendous supporters of the downtown YMCA.

“We’re proud to continue supporting this great event,” said Lightfoot managing partner Melody Eagan. “Not only is this a fun opportunity for friendly competition among local law firms, but the race honors the legacies of Jere and Ronnie while supporting the YMCA in its mission to promote a healthier Birmingham community.”

Second only to Birmingham’s Vulcan Run, the Noojin & White Race to the Courthouse is the second-oldest road race in the Birmingham community. The race will end with an after-party at Good People Brewing Company, featuring live music from Legal Limit, food trucks and activities for kids. Festivities will run from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.

The Y is accepting sponsorship applications now. Race registration is now open at www.ymcabham.org/race and at the YMCA of Greater Birmingham Downtown Branch through race day. For more details and sponsorship information contact Sarah McMillian, race director, at 205-801-7218.
