Lightfoot Sponsors 34rd Annual Noojin & White Race to the Courthouse 5k Honoring Founding Partner, Jere White

December 7, 2021

Lightfoot, Franklin and White recently served as the premier sponsor to the 34rd annual Noojin & White Race to the Courthouse 5k on December 4th, 2021. Each year, this race commemorates the life and service of Lightfoot founding partner Jere White alongside Ronnie Noojin, founding member of the Noojin, Haley and Ashford law firm. Both men were prominent figures in the Birmingham law community and avid supporters of the downtown YMCA. The race route formerly covers the site of the original Jefferson County Courthouse, now the YMCA of Greater Birmingham Downtown Branc. This year the race course went through the doentown Rotary Trail. T he second-oldest road race in the Birmingham, this event annually unites hundreds of individuals to support the mission of the YMCA: produce programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. This year, Lightfoot’s team of runners won first place in the Law Firm category.

Founding partner Jere White is perhaps best known for his skills as a trial lawyer. For over 30 years, Jere handled significant civil cases of all types in state and federal courts in Alabama and throughout the United States, and he was one of the few lawyers in Alabama inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers, International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Trial Advocates. Beyond his successful practice, Jere was a regular supporter of the downtown YMCA. White served as a board member, chairman and generous benefactor to the YMCA for three decades. Jere was even named YMCA’s Volunteer of the Year before he tragically lost his life to cancer in 2011.
