April 30, 2018

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 30 2018) — Two Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC lawyers have been named 2018 “Top Attorneys” by Birmingham magazine. For the second year in a row, partner Jack Sharman and of counsel Ashby Pate received this recognition from the local publication.

Birmingham magazine conducted its ninth-annual peer reviewed survey, asking more than 4,000 local attorneys registered with the Birmingham Bar Association for their nominations for the area’s top lawyers in 35 practice areas. Birmingham magazine staff members reviewed the results to vet both the voters and the winners.

“Ashby and Jack are both accomplished attorneys in Birmingham and beyond,” said Lightfoot managing partner Melody Eagan. “We’re proud of their work and this great recognition.”

Sharman has practiced law for nearly 30 years and leads the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Corporate Investigations practice. In 2016, Sharman was appointed as special counsel to the Alabama House Judiciary Committee for the impeachment investigation of former Alabama Governor Robert Bentley. He is a regular contributor for national media coverage of the Trump-Russia investigation.

Pate focuses his practice on international disputes, appellate work and commercial and medical device litigation. He routinely takes on some of the firm’s most controversial matters, including prosecuting a high-profile case that led to the suspension of former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore. Pate also served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Palau, where he helped design the island nation’s fir st-ever jury trial system.
