Biography
Kaitlyn Faucett is an experienced advocate for her clients.
Kaitlyn represents clients in a broad spectrum of business and commercial matters, experiencing success in the courtroom and arbitration, as well as through informal dispute resolution practices. At the start of any case, Kaitlyn works closely with her clients to develop a trial strategy that matches their goals and expectations. Since 2018, Kaitlyn has been consistently recognized as a “Rising Star” by Thomson Reuters' Texas Super Lawyers.
Before joining Lightfoot, Kaitlyn honed her skills at a litigation boutique, where she managed a diverse caseload spanning traditional business and commercial transactional disputes, as well as employment, premises liability, fiduciary duty, healthcare, personal injury and real estate matters. She also has firsthand experience managing the various interests of the corporate entities she now represents, having previously served as in-house legal counsel for a boutique oil and gas company, and its subsidiaries, in Houston. As legal counsel, Kaitlyn advised the company on issues relating to title rights, contracts, litigation, corporate governance and finance.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Kaitlyn graduated magna cum laude from Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania, and went on to attend the University at Buffalo School of Law. During law school, she was a member of the school’s advocacy program in both domestic and international competitions, and she served as editor for one of its law journals. Upon graduation, Kaitlyn was named the University at Buffalo’s top advocate and awarded the prestigious James M. Keiffer Trial Excellence Award. Her dedication to advocacy also earned her membership in the National Order of the Barristers.
Outside of the office, Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with her husband Ryan, also an attorney, and their Doberman Pinscher, Royal. During football season, you can find Kaitlyn cheering on her hometown Buffalo Bills.

A subsequent appeal of the arbitrator’s award by the plaintiff, a former shareholder, was dismissed by the Houston Court of Appeals.
- Serving as second chair, successfully defended against a multimillion-dollar breach of contract claim asserted in arbitration by a former consultant for a litigation funding business. Following a full hearing, the consultant’s claims were entirely dismissed. The final judgment also awarded the client expenses and attorneys’ fees.

- After successfully compelling a multimillion-dollar breach of contract claim asserted by an energy company’s former employee to arbitration, Kaitlyn also represented the client during the employee’s appeal to the Texas Supreme Court. Following the submission of complete briefing on the merits, the Texas Supreme Court upheld the trial court’s decision. The case was subsequently dismissed by the American Arbitration Association for want of prosecution.
- Representing an oil field services provider as a plaintiff in a breach of contract dispute and obtaining summary judgment. The decision was ultimately upheld by the Houston Court of Appeals, which also awarded the client all attorneys’ fees for both the trial and appeal.
