Former FBI agent and NCIS investigator with 20+ years of experience
Josh Alford brings over two decades of investigative experience from his service as a Special Agent with both the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). He is also a lawyer and a member of the Alabama Bar Association.
As part of Lightfoot’s Litigation Support team, Josh works closely with our trial lawyers, conducting investigations into cases and assessing evidence. He plays a key role in interviewing potential witnesses and gathering crucial information that shapes litigation strategy. Drawing on his extensive experience with public corruption and white-collar cases, Josh also guides clients through independent internal investigations to identify potential misconduct and reduce exposure to civil litigation or criminal prosecution.
Josh is known for his attention to evidentiary integrity and strict confidentiality. His legal background ensures a strong grasp of the relevant rules of evidence and compliance issues throughout every investigation.
Earlier in his career, Josh served as a legal advisor to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, providing counsel to federal and state law enforcement on child exploitation, cybercrime and trafficking statutes. He supported investigative units with statutory interpretation and case preparation across multiple jurisdictions.
Outside the office, Josh enjoys time with his wife and family, shuttles kids to practices and games and finds adventure on the trail or in the water through mountain biking and kayaking.
