Biography

When the stakes are high, Chandler Bailey turns complex product cases into compelling stories, winning trust from boardrooms to courtrooms.

With more than two decades of extensive experience, Chandler has established himself as a formidable advocate for product manufacturers and suppliers nationwide. His practice spans the United States and focuses on defending complex product liability matters with far-reaching business and manufacturing implications. Chandler represents some of the nation’s most prominent companies, providing strategic counsel and courtroom leadership in high-stakes cases involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. 

Chandler’s approach is grounded in a deep understanding of both the products at issue and the businesses behind them. This deep insight, combined with exhaustive investigation, allows him to develop compelling trial strategies and persuasive themes that often position cases for successful resolution before ever reaching the courthouse. No matter the challenge, Chandler works tirelessly to ensure his clients’ stories are told accurately, credibly and convincingly. 

His dedication to his clients’ businesses, products and employees extends well beyond a single engagement. That commitment has earned him the role of national and regional counsel for some of the country’s largest companies. Chandler has defended high-exposure lawsuits in more than 20 states, from Georgia to Arizona. 

Beyond his casework, Chandler is an active member of Lightfoot’s Marketing & Business Development Committee and a former member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He is a participant in the Alabama State Bar’s Leadership Forum and previously co-chaired the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA) Annual Trial Academy. Chandler is also a member of the Product Liability Advisory Council (PLAC).

Chandler has earned consistent recognition from leading legal publications. He was recently recognized by Chambers and has been named a Benchmark Litigation  "Local Litigation Star," listed in The Best Lawyers in America© by BL Rankings, and annually selected as a Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters'  for more than a decade. 

Outside of the office, Chandler juggles a busy home life, supporting his family’s active sports and social calendars. When time allows, he can usually be found on the golf course, at the lake, or cheering on the Florida Gators.

Representative Matters

Serving as lead trial counsel for a national transportation company in a three-week personal injury trial in Arizona. The plaintiff was the passenger in a pickup truck using a tow dolly rented from our client to tow another vehicle. The plaintiff, who suffered spinal cord injuries when the pickup truck rolled over, sought $30 million in compensatory damages and $100 million in punitive damages. After two days of deliberation, the jury returned a defense verdict.

Serving as lead trial counsel for a Birmingham company in a multimillion-dollar dispute over a long-term supply agreement with a customer. After two weeks of arbitration, our client received a favorable decision that will govern the relationship between the companies for many years.

Serving as lead national trial counsel in catastrophic injury cases for a leading power tool manufacturer.

Serving as lead national trial counsel for the world’s largest water heater manufacturer.

Serving as national trial counsel in a catastrophic injury case for the nation’s largest rental trailer/truck company.

Serving as trial counsel for several leading automotive manufacturers in Alabama and neighboring states.

Serving as trial counsel for a leading farming/construction/forestry manufacturer in Alabama cases, including catastrophic injury lawsuits.

Serving as national trial counsel for a leading supplier of battery technology regarding fire/explosion claims.
